This is our holiday meeting, held on the second Saturday rather than the third.  We get together, have a few snacks (bring something if you like), and watch a cheesy herp movie for laughs.  Past choices have included “Frogs,” that low-rent classic in which the herps of a southern swamp go wild and terrorize the humans. Come see, and plan to go to Nizza Pizza afterward for dinner!

Community Events:

Stay tuned for updates.

Field Trips:

Specific dates and plans will be forthcoming, but two of our major annual field trips are:

Big Thicket National Preserve (near Kountze, Texas) – see the herps of this biologically rich and unique area, with cypress/tupelo wetlands, forests that include longleaf pine as well as beech and magnolia trees.

Trans-Pecos and Big Bend (we generally stay in Sanderson, Texas) – world-famous localities for species like the gray-banded kingsnake, Trans-Pecos rat snake, mottled rock rattlesnakes, and much more.  Visit the Chihuahuan Desert and the Chisos, Davis, and other mountain ranges.
